Since signing on to chair the LOT this year (oh dear God, what was I thinking?), I’ve inherited a myriad of difficult tasks to tackle before August. Let me tell you, the thought of raising thousands of dollars for this particular event (during a recession nonetheless) keeps me up late most nights…

BUT one task that was completely fun and considered one of the few perks of the job was selecting local bands for the show. This year’s lineup comprised of groups that I already knew and loved, along with some suggestions from friends and local music “experts”. Also, several bands approached me, asking if they could play the LOT- this was a huge compliment to Metropolis…and it made me feel slightly powerful for about two seconds.

So I am proud to announce the LOT lineup for 2009 (in no particular order):

• The Dock Ellis Band

• The Blind Eyes

• Soulard Blues Band

• The 75’s

If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit these band’s MySpace pages and take the time before August to see them perform at The Firebird, Off Broadway, Lemmons, The Billiken Club, BB’s, The Way Out Club or any other live music venue in St. Louis.

In the meantime, wish the LOT Committee luck in our ongoing fundraising efforts (trivia nights, Mardi Gras booth, toga party, etc.) and hope to see you on August 29!
