The Walk

Are you a better host than guest? Do you love meeting new people? Want to experience the city and its bars? We're looking for you! We need 2 or more walk captains starting as soon as possible. The Walk is a weekly pub crawl that is a great way to meet new people (many of the participants recently moved to St. Louis), learn about ways to get involved in Metropolis, have a great time, and make a difference. To inquire about this position contact president@mstl.org.

Goals:

The Lineup

Each week, the Walk captains post the bar schedule for Thursday night's Walk to the Calendar. You can also have it e-mailed to you by subscribing to the Walk list(see below) or the Metropolist. Or, you can call 314.206.3246 and then press 3 to hear this weeks lineup (we usually record the message on the Wednesday before).

The Email List

Each week, the Walk captains send out an email that includes the lineup (i.e. the list of bars will be hitting) and general information for the upcoming Walk. To sign up to be on this list email walk@mstl.org.

Wine Club

The Wine Club is a monthly wine-tasting, social networking event that is usually scheduled, with rare exception, on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at various locations in the City. This is an informal event and no knowledge of wine, cork sniffing techniques or lingo is required.

We alternate between people's homes and businesses that sell wine. If it is in a home, the host chooses a theme (type of wine) and each participant is asked to bring a bottle of that type of wine (and some info about it) and/or light food. If it is in a business, we charge a nominal fee to cover the costs of the wines provided for tasting and some food. All events take place within the City Limits of St. Louis.

Reservations are always required. An invitation with all the details is posted on the Metropolist about a week before the event at which time you can RSVP. We will also post the event details on the calendar. We generally can accommodate around 50 people, depending on the location, and these slots fill up very quickly - usually within a day after the invitation is posted. If you do not subscribe to the Metropolist, but would like to receive invitations, you can subscribe to the Wine Club List at www.groups.yahoo.com/group/Metropolis_Wine_Club. For questions or if you would like to host an event at your home or business, contact wineclub@mstl.org.
