What’s Up is a not for profit organization in St. Louis that helps empower the homeless by producing a magazine about St. Louis’ issues and giving homeless residents jobs by letting them sell the magazine. The magazine, which moves about 5,000 copies a month, features articles written by both prominent St. Louisans, like Jay Swoboda, and some articles written by some locals you may not have heard of yet. The Regional Arts Commission is an organization that is steeped in the belief that the Arts are essential in making our urban area a thriving one. The RAC, formed in 1985, promotes the arts in the city through a variety of ways. For instance they provide seminars on Art management, as well as internship opportunities for college students. The Regional Arts Commission is the city’s biggest advocacy group regarding keeping the arts in community planning. Beside the work in the community, the RAC also houses a small gallery featuring local talent and national shows nestled in the Delmar Loop at 6128 Delmar, on the first floor of the Cultural Resource Center.

The Atomic Cowboy, located at 4140 Manchester, is one of St. Louis’s most eclectic nightspots. Art Dimensions is a St. Louis based non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the community through art and providing local artists an avenue to display their work. They are currently looking for help from the community to assist in providing funds for a new facility which they hope will provide not only more gallery space, but enough room to offer classes and group meetings as well. The organization, run completely by volunteers, has designed artwork for several citywide celebrations such as a Taste of St. Louis and Off the Wall at City Hall.
